ALA omega-3: which is a vital ingredient for making important hormones, such as prostaglandins, which must be present for the certain internal functions involved with dilating blood vessels, regulating arterial pressure (blood pressure), metabolizing cholesterol, activating T-lymphocytes (healthy immune system function), protecting against platelet aggregation (healthy energy an stamina), controlling abnormal cell proliferation (healthy non-cancer cell growth) and other functions. Other conditions benefited include depression, migraine headache, and diabetes.
GLA omega-6: may be useful in diseases that involve inflammation and it is useful in treating breast pain associated with the menstrual cycle (cyclic mastalgia). It appears to be helpful in about 50% of women studied, vs. less than half that for placebo. GLA may also be helpful in reducing other PMS symptoms, and is used in Europe to treat diabetic neuropathy and eczema. GLA may also have some benefit in treating rheumatoid arthritis.
